Round trip ...!

2007-05-23.jpg

... Through Roatan.

This had yet worked out perfectly. The car was right at hand on Dinghyanleger was a full tank and an air temperature had the interior been suitably :-) . Because Roatan measures in total length just about 60 km, we were fast on the West End. The bottle-TUEV was easy to find and also turned out to be veeery friendly and flexible. Actually we had planned to bottle the same day mitnehemen again but this can be for technical reasons, unfortunately, was not possible. No problem Sir! The owner runs every Friday after French Harbour and take us on this occasion by the bottle :-) . Great!

West End itself is something of the hot spot on Roatan. Diving Schools, Gift Shops and pubs line up. However, the atmosphere very relaxed and despite the mass of the hotel waiting for us castles and cobblestone shopping malls were found to be non-existent. Instead of traffic, only a sandy track runs through all and in turn makes it as if time stood still would be here.

Then we drove to Coxen Hole. Actually, you can make this hole a big bow, but on our first visit to Roatan we had already noticed the unique block on the market, prepared in the colored mothers with extremely protruding buttocks sorts tasty food. And that's where we wanted to do lunch! Believe me .... for the plate with rice, beans and extremely sensational shrimp would also her many a three star meal can fly! From the atmosphere around it time to mention :-) .

well, that's it for now almost. Via French Harbour, the road leads to the eastern part of the island. This consists only of remnants of rainforest and plenty of new development areas. Permanent, turn left or right down to mega resorts or heavily guarded residences for Americans and Canadians. Here and there a tiny settlement of local people .... thats it! The sell-runs! Snap to it and so ended the tour at about 16:00 we were to match the coffee on lauan.

One, however, we had forgotten. Kurt chickens! Michael gave us this tip yet! So once again going on. Kurt is a true-Bayer, lives with his family for 10 years on Roatan in an igloo and has made his hobby into a profession. ... Haehnchenbraterei! If anyone of you ever come to Roatan. ... WE have long been not as a sensational pudda :-)

Oh, that Daypic shows a private submarine. Can you actually rent and then go on up to 2,000 ft plunge. Unfortunately the owner was not there, but I fear for info once an internet link.

Equipment Search ...!

2006-09-16.jpg

When shopping at the supermarket yesterday, we noticed an ad on the bulletin board on. to sell VW Bulli, racing and diving equipment. So we recorded the number, called and a half hours later, the provider was already with us on the boat. Jos ... many years ago got out and got stuck on Bonaire. After an adventurous journey into the interior of the island we were on a rather - on first glance, the wild-yard. Crap ... forgot a camera :-( The diving stuff was, among many, many other things, stationed on a table. ... Aha .... Bonaire's Flea Market is here! The things stood out to be not soooo then hit and therefore this subject was checked off pretty fast. But what our eyes saw. ... A fairly large bar, beer garden benches and the remains of a huge bonfire. The course immediately aroused our curiosity. Jos then explained that he was incidentally bar ... ... but only on Sunday :-). You read right ... .. not a day of rest ... nene ... .6 Closing Day! And allegedly isses out here in the pampas of trendy meeting place for locals and few tourists now and NEN. As Harry told us later by the Dive Inn, it is probably indeed true. Okidoki .... Let's see if we persuade the others can have a ride with us here. We have now although still not a dive stuff ... ... but at least NEN new Kneipentip! The stalls on the promenade're really nothing for a cozy hang out.

... Passed!

2006-09-10.jpg

Who would have thought the ;-) Well ... sooo hard it really was not. From today we are allowed to call ourselves so Open Water Diver. Although the dive-basic (similar to the A-rich glow while sailing), but for us it would and NEN-great-sailing license, such as the SKS bill finally yes we also do not have. And yet we have got to the ABC Islands ;-) ;-) How nice it is called learning by doing so ... ... the practice makes it. So it is called now looking for our first equipment!

Last day ...!

2006-09-09.jpg

This was the penultimate dive :-( Rudi is with us again relegated to a Fundive. No more exercises! Just enjoy the underwater world. We're down to 26 m long risen up and then slowly over 50 minutes. So honestly ... that you'll have to make time. Impressive, really powerful! Soon we go one last time in the school and make our final test. Setback of 50 questions ... this should be to create!? And after that? Well ... let's see. Next week we want to first rent equipment, go with the UPPS dive times and see if this sport Longer fascination is putting on us. After all, such a set will cost just € 1500 upwards and there will be an eventual investment lots of thought. But even in the case, which inspired us Taucherei not very much longer, it is an immersion course for cruising a worthwhile investment. Anyone who has ever tried to clean its hull schnorchelnderweise know what I mean. :-) But therefore enough then a used equipment! Well ... we'll see. So ... I got to go ... until later ... ..

OK ... we do ...!

2006-09-02.jpg

As I said, now looking for a good, cheap diving course was announced. Together with Bernd and Tanja, we were on our way. The two were also looking for a favorable opportunity to fill their tanks leave. The offer was actually the same for all schools. Small groups, 4-5 days duration, 4-6 dives etc.. But .... From school to school, they have become cheaper :-) Ok ... long story short .... On Monday's it. The school is already two times to one of the top schools were chosen in the Caribbean (Journal-diving), the price is OK, the whole action is in German and we are a total of only four people! We were just a pile of books pressured now into the hand and allowed the weekend a little cramming :-) In the evening we went over to the Opps on the delicious pizza, since it was from Heike and Wolfgang Vonnie-T were also there and we are therefore in the group of hardcore divers were, you can surely imagine the main theme of the evening :-) Yesterday's night was quite loud! You will not believe it. ... Biker meeting in Bonaire! Live music and Harleys to the town red.

Bonaire ...!

2006-09-01.jpg

Bonaire has a special individuality by the way! The whole island and the waters in lying around it is a huge marine park and the residents pay meticulous attention that the environment is not destroyed. No wonder .... But the island belongs to the TOP10 of the dive spots and thus accommodates the whole year over a lot of diving fans. And who want something other than dead reefs. To Desiring to ensure that there are some rules here. For us this means sailors as anchors banned! In a small Abchnitt from the capital Kralendijk are from 40 buoys, which can be confidence on his ship. Are these all the evidence from .... In the Marina. Are these shows, it is .... . Move on Of course it cost to fix these buoys money and the diving - even snorkeling - is not free. But .... First, it is relatively cheap (Boje 10 U.S. per day and dip 25 U.S. per year and secondly, we were able to convince us with a snorkeling trip like this, that this money is not sour but in some cases create meaningful. We wanted you actually do not more bored with fish and birds, but this is really quite spectacular. Directly beneath the ship is a living reef fish in all colors and having no fear of people. At once again a lot of us, that we want to make a diving license. If not here .... where else? So we'll spend the afternoon around with it, the pedal to - abundant - local open water bases and keep a lookout bordkassenfreundlichen offer.
